On hiatus

Frogpond Collective has gone into hiatus on Etsy for the time being.

The members of the group are working out if we want to continue at this site or work out some other arrangement.  If you are looking for products, we are posting general product shots HERE or feel free to email us directly at frogpond[at]gto[dot]net to request details on other products or get an order of our lovely beeswax candles.

While we are deciding on the direction Frogpond will take, many of us are working away creating new products/yarns to stock up what we have sold.

Hoping everyone stays well and happy!
Peace from the members of Frog Pond Collective ~

Fibre in the House!

Back in September mom and I took a drive out to Wellington Fibres and dropped off a large load of various fibres and instructions for processing. Last week I finally got the call... The fibre was done and and ready for pick up!

It is all absolutely stunning!

Soft, easy to draft rovings that spun up so easily. I grabbed out enough roving from each bag to do up some sample skeins and I am so thrilled with the fantastic work Diane, Lorne & the staff at Wellington Fibres do, these are all just a dream to spin with. The roving have three smaller pin drafts drawn together, I just striped lengths down into the three zones and spun from there, super easy to get a lovely worsted weight yarn.
*Note* the Lamb & Sassy rovings are keen to be spun very fine and 3 or 4 plied to get a heavier yarn or left finer.

Each fibre blend has a unique colour and/or personality which I have tried to post in each description. I will be offering portions of these roving lots for sale, be sure to check the notes below on each fibre to find out what is available.

All rovings will be offered at $2.50 per ounce if purchased directly {frogpond-at-gto-dot-net}.
Shipping will be exact costs, pick-up is encouraged to anyone living in Kitchener-Waterloo & surrounding area.

New and renewed stock!

Well we are trying to start off the new year with a better set-up in our store, PFC is listening to the suggestions we got and are now listing skeins as individuals instead of in lots. If you are interested in any "set" of yarns, just message us and I'll mark them as reserved :)

I spent a nice sunny day getting pictures taken of our current stock of hand spun yarns, taking a quick inventory while I was at it and then making sure all the pictures were labelled and sized right for posting to the store. All I can say is Whew! It was a fair bit of work to get it all done, but I am feeling good about having things organized.

FPC will not be listing candles or stitch markers at this time.

** We sold out of candles at the Christmas sales we went to or gave the balance as gifts and our candle maker is laid up right now. The candles will be reposted when we have new stock.

** Stitch marker stock shifted and changed after the holiday sales and with the challenges they present in getting decent quality photos of them, until we can find a better way to provide clear pictures they will remain an inactive item.

FPC is hoping to start listing finished items in the new year. Hand knit scarves, hats, mitts, shawls, ETC. Some in hand spun yarn, some in commercial yarn. We are not sure if these items will attract any attention from you all, but we are willing to give it a try and see what kind of response we get.

Keep checking out the Etsy Store as we will be working on getting new stock up over the next few weeks....

Many thanks to Karen for being willing to give us a try.

We encourage anyone in the area to go and have a peek at her stall in the balcony area of the main building and see what she has in stock.

New Yarns in the Etsy Shop

I have been a bit busy lately, but I finally got a nice day to take pictures of all the hand spun yarns so I can get them posted in the shop. It is a bit labour intensive having to post each one and make sure I keep all the details straight, but I am managing.

Just washed up another lot of hand spun yarn today, three skeins matching and a funky little skein of dog fur and merino wool that I was playing around with yesterday. I love the way it turned out and will try and get more done if I can, but I get very sore easily lately, so my spinning is done in smaller sessions right now.

I also have some new knitted items that I have been doing for sale at the local Kitchener Market, but I am not sure if I want to post them on Etsy just yet. I'll have to think that over and decide at a later time.

Please check out the new stock I have posted on Etsy and please let me know what you think!

Tess

Long time coming...

Been slaving in fits and spurts to get our online store on Etsy up and running... scanning, photographing, posting-posting-posting. I am finally getting some of the stock scanned/photographed and listed.

We have the stitch markers listed, a couple of our candle sets and some more of the hand spun yarns. You can check out our current stock in the panel to the left.

Will try to get some of our other finished goods up soon, more of our available hand spun yarns and perhaps some pottery or the hand-knit floor rugs one of our members makes! I will have to see which lot of pictures turn out best this next round and go from there.

Thanks for stopping by!
Tess
